Quickly Install WordPress On HostGator Sites

Do you use WordPress for a lot of your sites or blogs?  HostGator is a wise choice as a host for your WordPress sites.  Sites hosted on HostGator take no time installing WordPress.  HostGator uses Fantastico De Luxe allowing a quick 1 click auto install of WordPress.

Here are some instructions showing how easy it is to install WordPress on HostGator hosted sites.

- Click the link in your welcome email from HostGator.  Sign into your cpanel.

- Scroll down to the  bottom of the page.  Click on the blue face called Fantastico De Luxe under software/services.

- You will see  a list of programs on the left hand side of the page.  Click WordPress which is under the blogs category.

- A description of WordPress will now show on the right.  Click “new installation”

- Now if you have more than one domain hosted on your account a drop down list of domains that you have hosted with HostGator will appear.  Choose the domain you wish to have WordPress installed to.

- Below the list is “install on directory” and a text box.  Leave this text box blank if you wish to install WordPress on the root directory of your site.  If you would like to install WordPress on another directory of your site then simply put the name of the directory in the text box.  ex. to install WordPress on www.yoursite.com/blog just type “blog” (without the quotes) into the text box.

Admin  Access Data is just the username and password you wish to use to login to your WordPress admin.  Base Configuration is just your screen  name.  Email address is just the email you with to associate with your WordPress site.  The site name is the title of your website.  And last just type the description of your website.

Click “install wordpress” and click on the next page to finalize installation.

Type the URL of the domain that you just installed into WordPress.  A window should automatically pop up asking for your login information.  Enter in the user and password and you are done!
